Changes are occurring now, and will continue to take place after 2012. Humanity as a whole will wake up in mindfulness. He states the extent of the changes that will happen and how difficult they are hugely depend on the level of human consciousness. He says the best thing we all can do at the moment is to come together in unity, regardless of race, religion, creed or philosophy.

There are other spiritual masters from Mexico, which holds one of the largest Mayan populations, who have a very much the same message. The bottom line is that even as there may be plenty of changes that transpire as we move close to 2012 and after, and these changes can bring up fear of the unknown, we are living in a special time in humanity's history. What on the covering may look like catastrophe is really the old coming to an end in order to make way for the new. This doesn't mean that there will not be bad fortune as the changes happen. When a big business breaks down many lose their jobs. When there are earthquakes, many may even lose their lives. And, while such things have always taken place in human history, it does not negate the challenges and tragedies that occur. At the same time, however, as stated by the Mayans and other spiritual leaders, in the bigger picture what is happening has been destined to happen for a very long time. And most significantly, it is carrying humans to a much better world to inhabit.
